Where to Find Pronghorn in Antelope Hunt Area 94

The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission names antelope hunt area 94 "Carter Lease". It runs to about 856 square miles, in Uinta (54%), Lincoln (40%) and Sweetwater (5%) counties. WGFD reports these pronghorn as the Carter Lease herd unit, which also takes in antelope hunt areas 98 and 100. What WGFD publishes for the area is its boundary and its harvest; where the pronghorn stand inside it is our reading of the ground, and the two are kept apart below.

Where antelope hunt area 94 begins and ends

WGFD's 2026 Chapter 5 defines antelope hunt area 94 as beginning at the junction of Interstate Highway 80 and U.S. Highway 189; northerly along U.S. Highway 189 to U.S. Highway 30; easterly then southerly along said highway to Interstate Highway 80; westerly along said highway to U.S. Highway 189. It is the description your license is good inside, so it is worth reading once in full before you go. The full text is in Section 5 of that chapter, with this year's season dates and license limitations in Section 2.

Not the same ground as the other hunt area 94s

WGFD numbers each species' hunt areas on its own grid, so the number 94 also belongs to its elk and deer hunt areas 94. Only the elk area shares a county with this one. A license is good only in the hunt area of its own species, so this page is about the antelope area, and the cards at the foot of the page link the others.

Ground WGFD opens: Uinta 12

WGFD also lists one Walk-In Area covering about 6,215 acres open for antelope: Uinta 12. WGFD's 2026 regulations open Access Yes land only for the species and dates listed for each area, with each area's own rules on WGFD's site and no motorized travel unless WGFD says otherwise.

High ground inside the line: The Hogsback, Pine Ridge and Bald Knoll

Named high points inside antelope hunt area 94 include The Hogsback at 7,576 feet, Pine Ridge at 7,398 feet, Bald Knoll at 7,229 feet, Wells Flat at 7,005 feet and Little Round Mountain at 6,955 feet. Several carry a public-land flag in our data, which makes them the first places to try for a view. Pronghorn live in the open and trust their eyes, which is the whole problem.

Holding ground: Blazon Gap, Richardson Draw and Coal Mine Draw

Below them sit Blazon Gap at 6,789 feet, Richardson Draw at 6,736 feet, Coal Mine Draw at 6,665 feet, Lost Draw at 6,596 feet and Sheep Draw at 6,576 feet. These are the folds worth watching, and the ones other hunters walk past.

Water: Little Round Mountain Spring, Coyote Spring and Roberson Spring

Named water inside the line includes Little Round Mountain Spring, Coyote Spring, Roberson Spring, Mineral Springs, Mine Spring and Mulkay Spring. Nothing in the data says which of it runs in autumn, so a scouting trip earns its fuel.

Reading the land status

Named ground inside antelope hunt area 94 runs from 6,275 feet to 7,576 feet. Those are the heights of the features GNIS names, which bound the range from inside rather than measure it.

Wyoming Game and Fish's 2026 demand report for pronghorn in antelope hunt area 94, residents and nonresidents kept apart because they draw from different license pools:

  • Type 1 (any antelope), residents: 1,198 first-choice applicants for 315 licenses, 26.3% drawn
  • Type 1 (any antelope), nonresidents: 441 first-choice applicants for 12 licenses, 2.7% drawn

Wyoming residents draw pronghorn licenses without preference points; nonresidents draw part of their quota on points, highest balance first (Chapter 44, Section 19), and the nonresident figures above are from WGFD's random draw. WGFD publishes no preference-point level at which a hunt draws, so none is given here. Every figure was checked against WGFD's demand-report PDFs on 2026-08-10.
