Where to Find Pronghorn in Antelope Hunt Area 88

The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission names antelope hunt area 88 "Beaver". It runs to about 597 square miles, almost all of it in Sublette County. WGFD reports these pronghorn as the Sublette herd unit, which also takes in antelope hunt areas 85, 86, 87, 89, 90, 91, 92 and 93 and 3 more. What WGFD publishes for the area is its boundary and its harvest; where the pronghorn stand inside it is our reading of the ground, and the two are kept apart below.

The line: East Green River, Green River and Cottonwood Creek

WGFD's 2026 Chapter 5 walks the line around antelope hunt area 88 corner by corner. It starts where the East Green River Road (Sublette County Road 23-110) intersects Wyoming Highway 351. On the way round it follows Sublette County Road 23, Wyoming Highway 351 and U.S. Highway 191, and East Green River, Green River, Cottonwood Creek and South Cottonwood Creek. It is the description your license is good inside, so it is worth reading once in full before you go. The full text is in Section 5 of that chapter, with this year's season dates and license limitations in Section 2.

Not the same ground as the other hunt area 88s

WGFD numbers each species' hunt areas on its own grid, so the number 88 also belongs to its elk and deer hunt areas 88. None of them shares a county with this one. A license is good only in the hunt area of its own species, so this page is about the antelope area, and the cards at the foot of the page link the others.

Ground WGFD opens: Public Access Areas

Public Access Areas such as Green River-Huston (30 acres) and Green River-Daniel/40 Rod (80 acres) are public ways onto water and land; check what each allows before you count on it for hunting.

High ground inside the line: Triple Peak, Lander Peak and Horse Mountain

Named high points inside antelope hunt area 88 include Triple Peak at 11,116 feet, Lander Peak at 10,421 feet, Horse Mountain at 10,227 feet, Prospect Peak at 9,641 feet and Beaver Ridge at 9,244 feet. Several carry a public-land flag in our data, which makes them the first places to try for a view. Pronghorn stay on the open rolling ground and leave the timber alone.

Holding ground: Annie Draw, Watson Draw and Haines Flat

Below them sit Annie Draw at 7,794 feet, Watson Draw at 7,736 feet, Haines Flat at 7,665 feet, Horse Pasture Draw at 7,594 feet and Cow Gulch at 7,576 feet. That is the low ground — where animals drop when they are pushed or when the weather turns.

Reading the land status

Named ground inside antelope hunt area 88 runs from 7,008 feet to 11,116 feet — more than 4,000 feet between the named features alone, so the season you draw decides which part of it you hunt.

Wyoming Game and Fish's 2026 demand report for pronghorn in antelope hunt area 88, residents and nonresidents kept apart because they draw from different license pools:

  • Type 1 (any antelope), residents: 165 first-choice applicants for 26 licenses, 15.8% drawn
  • Type 1 (any antelope), nonresidents: 43 first-choice applicants for 0 licenses, 0% drawn

Wyoming residents draw pronghorn licenses without preference points; nonresidents draw part of their quota on points, highest balance first (Chapter 44, Section 19), and the nonresident figures above are from WGFD's random draw. WGFD publishes no preference-point level at which a hunt draws, so none is given here. Every figure was checked against WGFD's demand-report PDFs on 2026-08-10.
