Where to Find Pronghorn in Antelope Hunt Area 52
The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission names antelope hunt area 52 "Spring Creek". It runs to about 617 square miles, entirely in Carbon County. WGFD reports these pronghorn as the Iron Springs herd unit, which also takes in antelope hunt areas 56 and 108. WGFD prints the line and counts the harvest. It doesn't say where inside the line the pronghorn live, so that part is our read of the ground, labelled as such.
The line: Continental Divide, Sage Creek and North Platte River
WGFD's 2026 Chapter 5 walks the line around antelope hunt area 52 corner by corner. It starts where the Continental Divide crosses the Wyoming-Colorado state line. On the way round it follows Carbon County Road 401, and Continental Divide, Sage Creek, North Platte River and Encampment River. It is the description your license is good inside, so it is worth reading once in full before you go. The full text is in Section 5 of that chapter, with this year's season dates and license limitations in Section 2.
Not the same ground as the other hunt area 52s
WGFD numbers each species' hunt areas on its own grid, so the number 52 also belongs to its deer hunt area 52. None of it shares a county with this one. A license is good only in the hunt area of its own species, so this page is about the antelope area, and the cards at the foot of the page link the others.
Ground WGFD opens: Public Access Areas
Public Access Areas such as North Platte River-Pick Bridge (50 acres) and North Platte River-Sanger (229 acres) are public ways onto water and land; check what each allows before you count on it for hunting.
Wilderness inside the line: Huston Park Wilderness
About 3% of antelope hunt area 52 lies in the Huston Park Wilderness. WGFD's 2026 regulations print the rule that matters there: no nonresident may hunt big game in a designated wilderness area unless accompanied by a licensed professional guide or a resident guide, with at least one guide for every two nonresident hunters. Inside the wilderness there are no roads, so every animal there comes out on your back or on a horse.
High ground inside the line: Sierra Madre, Vulcan Mountain and Green Mountain
Named high points inside antelope hunt area 52 include Sierra Madre at 10,958 feet, Vulcan Mountain at 10,769 feet, Green Mountain at 10,309 feet, Mowry Peak at 10,293 feet and Doane Peak at 10,271 feet. Several carry a public-land flag in our data, which makes them the first places to try for a view. Pronghorn stay on the open rolling ground and leave the timber alone.
Holding ground: Slaughterhouse Gulch, Joes Park and Jack Creek Park
Below them sit Slaughterhouse Gulch at 8,513 feet, Joes Park at 8,466 feet, Jack Creek Park at 8,413 feet, McLain Park at 8,411 feet and Commissary Park at 8,360 feet. These are the folds worth watching, and the ones other hunters walk past.
Reading the land status
Named ground inside antelope hunt area 52 runs from 6,697 feet to 10,958 feet — more than 4,000 feet between the named features alone, so the season you draw decides which part of it you hunt.

Open in Draw Odds EngineWyoming Game and Fish's 2026 demand report for pronghorn in antelope hunt area 52, residents and nonresidents kept apart because they draw from different license pools:
- Type 1 (any antelope), residents: 387 first-choice applicants for 95 licenses, 24.5% drawn
- Type 2 (any antelope), residents: 135 first-choice applicants for 119 licenses, 88.1% drawn
- Type 1 (any antelope), nonresidents: 117 first-choice applicants for 3 licenses, 2.6% drawn
- Type 2 (any antelope), nonresidents: 35 first-choice applicants for 5 licenses, 14.3% drawn
Wyoming residents draw pronghorn licenses without preference points; nonresidents draw part of their quota on points, highest balance first (Chapter 44, Section 19), and the nonresident figures above are from WGFD's random draw. WGFD publishes no preference-point level at which a hunt draws, so none is given here. Every figure was checked against WGFD's demand-report PDFs on 2026-08-10.
