Unit 114 (Mount Moriah, The Table and the Snake Range)
Nevada Hunting Guide — Bighorn Sheep
Unit 114 covers about 585 square miles of White Pine County around Mount Moriah in the Snake Range. NDOW drew no Rocky Mountain bighorn tag here in 2025, but its sheet still describes the hunt: early sheep on The Table and Mount Moriah, wintering sheep in the Cove and lower canyons, and a physically and mentally demanding backpack or horseback hunt.

Where to Find Bighorn Sheep in Unit 114: The Table, Mount Moriah and the Cove
The Table, Mount Moriah and Deep Canyon early
Early in the season, bighorn use The Table, Mount Moriah and the two unnamed peaks south of Mount Moriah proper, and they can be in Deep Canyon too. They're often seen above timberline. This mountain doesn't have much ground above timberline, though, and the sheep here, rams especially, spend time in the trees.
The Cove, Hendrys Creek and Central Peak in winter
Later in the fall, the sheep head lower. They winter in the Cove, lower Hendrys Creek, Deep Canyon, Smith Creek and Central Peak. In dry winters some stay up high.
A few other drainages are worth knowing about. Hampton Creek and Horse Canyon get limited sheep use. Bighorn used to winter between Red Ledge and Rock Canyon, but that use seems to have dropped off. Scattered sheep may also turn up in the Silver Creek and Negro Creek drainages, and those are worth a look if the main wintering areas come up quiet.
The ground NDOW draws for this tag
A bighorn sheep tag for this group is good in unit 114, about 585 square miles measured on NDOW's own boundary, in White Pine County. The named ranges inside the line are Snake Range, Red Hills and Little Hills. The highest named points are Mount Moriah (12,055 ft), O'Neal Peak (10,084 ft) and Central Peak (9,353 ft), and the lowest named ground sits near 5,498 feet. We don't print a land-status split for Nevada groups, because the figures we held didn't come from BLM's surface-management data; check BLM's current map for private parcels before you cross a fence or a cattle guard. GNIS names 28 springs inside it, Mud Spring, Pipe Spring, Smudge Spring and Chokecherry Spring among them.
