Unit 111 - 114 (Steptoe, Spring, Antelope and Snake Valleys)

Nevada Hunting Guide — Pronghorn

Units 111 - 114 cover about 2,700 square miles of White Pine and Juab counties, the valleys around the Schell Creek and Snake ranges out to the Utah line. Antelope spread through Steptoe, Spring, Antelope and Snake valleys wherever water allows. County roads and two-tracks reach most of them, though NDOW says numbers are below the mid-2010s after weak fawn crops.

Where to Find Pronghorn in Units 111 - 114: Steptoe, Spring, Antelope and Snake Valleys

Steptoe Valley and the north ends of Units 111, 112

Except where water runs short, NDOW finds good numbers of antelope in Antelope, Snake and Spring valleys. In the Steptoe Valley part of Unit 111, most animals are north of Lages Junction and south of Ely. Habitat projects and wildfires have added antelope habitat in the north end of Unit 111 and in Unit 112, and the country between Sampson Creek, Lookout Spring and the southern tip of the Boone Spring Hills holds good numbers.

Little Hills, Pleasant Valley and Tunnel Canyon to Chin Creek

The Little Hills in Units 113 and 114, toward Sulphur Springs, are productive. Pleasant Valley in Unit 113 has a growing number of antelope. In Unit 112, Tunnel Canyon to Chin Creek in Antelope Valley holds good numbers, and the Snake Valley portion of Unit 114 can be good if you know exactly where the state line is.

In hot, dry weather antelope move up into open hills and into ground with light to moderate tree cover. Private meadows and farm fields can hold them as well. There are 10 wildlife water developments, or guzzlers, built for antelope in this group, and NDOW's Water Development Atlas will show you where they are. Hunt them, but leave them alone: NDOW strongly discourages tampering with any natural or man-made water.

The ground NDOW draws for this tag

A pronghorn tag for this group is good in units 111, 112, 113 and 114, about 2,698 square miles measured on NDOW's own boundary, in White Pine County. The named ranges inside the line are Antelope Range, Kern Mountains, Duck Creek Range, Red Hills, Schell Creek Range and Snake Range. The highest named points are Mount Moriah (12,055 ft), North Schell Peak (11,872 ft) and South Schell Peak (11,756 ft), and the lowest named ground sits near 5,498 feet. We don't print a land-status split for Nevada groups, because the figures we held didn't come from BLM's surface-management data; check BLM's current map for private parcels before you cross a fence or a cattle guard. GNIS names 176 springs inside it, Grasshopper Spring, Fera One Hundred, Mud Spring and Ice Cream Springs among them.
