Area 59 spans the Upper Green River drainage on the Bridger-Teton National Forest — timbered mountain country with extensive designated wilderness in the Bridger and Fitzpatrick ranges. Bulls in the 300-340 class inhabit the high basins and timber stringers. Three-year records show 566 applicants against 87 tags, making this a point-demanding non-resident hunt. The wilderness character means non-residents hunting inside designated wilderness must use a Wyoming-licensed outfitter or resident guide.

Archery and Early Rifle

Bulls rut in the spruce-fir timber and aspen parks between 8,500 and 10,500 feet. Green River Lakes country, the Roaring Fork, and the upper basins on both sides of the Green produce bugling bulls in September.
