Where to Find Pronghorn in Units 041, 042: Seven Troughs Springs to the Kamma Mountains
Unit 041: Selenite, Nightingale, Sahwave and Seven Troughs
NDOW's rule of thumb here is water. Antelope are generally found within about two miles of a source, anywhere from the valley floors up to the higher elevations of each range. In Unit 041 the sheet names both sides of the Selenite Range and the Sahwave Mountains; Sage Hen Spring, Stonehouse Canyon and Tunnel Springs in the Nightingale Mountains; the west Trinity Range from Ragged Top north to the Eagle Pitcher Mine, with its big game guzzlers; and the east side of the Lava Beds. The Seven Troughs Range gets the longest list: Porter Springs, Vernon, Burnt Canyon, Stonehouse Canyon, Rocky Canyon, Egbert Canyon, Cow Creek and Mule Canyon. Placerites and Rabbit Hole and Barrell Springs round it out.
Unit 042: Trinity Canyon to the Eugene Mountains
In Unit 042, start in the northeast Trinity Range at Trinity Canyon, Blackrock Canyon and Sportsman's or Natchez Springs. Poker Brown Gap, the west side of Rye Patch Reservoir and Majuba Canyon are next, along with the country off the Imlay Summit and Antelope Summit roads. The Kamma Mountains and Eugene Mountains finish NDOW's list.
The ground NDOW draws for this tag
A pronghorn tag for this group is good in units 041 and 042, about 3,874 square miles measured on NDOW's own boundary, in Pershing County, Washoe County, Churchill County and Humboldt County. The named ranges inside the line are Selenite Range, Hannan Range, Antelope Range, Nightingale Mountains, Eugene Mountains and Truckee Range. The highest named points are Kumiva Peak (8,224 ft), Wolfram Peak (7,579 ft) and Seven Troughs Mountain (7,457 ft), and the lowest named ground sits near 3,841 feet. We don't print a land-status split for Nevada groups, because the figures we held didn't come from BLM's surface-management data; check BLM's current map for private parcels before you cross a fence or a cattle guard. GNIS names 102 springs inside it, Cavanaugh Spring, Trego Hot Springs, Three Forks Spring and Dead Horse Spring among them.
