Unit 035 (Jackson Mountains, King Lear Peak and Parrot Peak)
Nevada Hunting Guide — Bighorn Sheep, Mule Deer, Pronghorn
Unit 035 covers about 1,704 square miles of Humboldt County, and NDOW's sheet for its Jackson Mountains hunt puts the sheep around King Lear Peak, south toward Navajo Peak, near Parrot Peak and above the Iron King Mine. NDOW calls it one of the roughest California bighorn hunts it offers. Two wilderness areas cover much of the sheep range and bar all vehicles.

Where to Find Bighorn Sheep in Unit 035: King Lear Peak, Parrot Peak and the Jackson Mountains
King Lear Peak south toward Navajo Peak
NDOW's 035C sheet covers the part of Unit 035 that's open to bighorn hunting in the Jackson Mountains, which hold all of the sheep in that portion. King Lear Peak and the country a little south of it, toward Navajo Peak, continue to support good numbers. Parrot Peak, and Deer Creek south of Jackson Creek, also seem to have a few sheep concentrating there.
Above the Iron King Mine to O'Brien Creek
Sheep have spread in recent years into the country above the Iron King Mine, all the way toward O'Brien Creek. That's newer ground than the King Lear and Parrot Peak areas, and it belongs on your scouting list.
The Bloody Run Hills
The sheet describes the Bloody Run Hills, on the far west side of Unit 035, as closed to bighorn hunting. NDOW's 2025 hunt data, though, lists a separate Bloody Runs ram hunt alongside the Jacksons hunt. Those two sources don't line up, so check the current regulations for exactly which ground your tag covers before you plan around either range.
The ground NDOW draws for this tag
A bighorn sheep tag for this group is good in unit 035, about 1,704 square miles measured on NDOW's own boundary, in Humboldt County. The named ranges inside the line are Tenmile Hills, Slumbering Hills, Jackson Mountains, Krum Hills and Bloody Run Hills. The highest named points are Quinn Peak (9,066 ft), DeLong Peak (9,008 ft) and King Lear Peak (8,905 ft), and the lowest named ground sits near 4,041 feet. We don't print a land-status split for Nevada groups, because the figures we held didn't come from BLM's surface-management data; check BLM's current map for private parcels before you cross a fence or a cattle guard. GNIS names 38 springs inside it, Bonita Spring, Willow Springs, Donna Schee Spring and O'Donnell Spring among them.

The lay of it
- 4,043–6,489 ft on a terrain sample , averaging 4,638 ft ; peaks can run higher.
- 1,703.8 sq mi inside the boundary. Big enough that picking one drainage beats driving three.
Water on the ground
- 15 tanks
- 40 springs
- 22 stream segments
- 1 lakes
Counts from mapping data, so this is how many exist, not how many hold water in a dry year. Sitting water only pays where you find fresh tracks.

Data from 2023 draw results. Each row is one residency pool — read the label before the number. This agency publishes no point thresholds, so the Pts column stays blank and these are pool odds, not what a point total draws.
