Unit 34A/34B (Las Cienegas and the Sonoita grasslands)

Arizona Hunting Guide — Pronghorn

The combined 34A/34B pronghorn hunt is the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area and the grassland around it, in the southwest corner of unit 34B east of Sonoita. The herd lives on rolling desert grassland with broken country off to the east, and during the hunt the animals will be in the rut or coming into it. BLM manages the conservation area and there are two distinct entrances, one on Highway 83 between mile markers 40 and 41 and a quicker one off Highway 82 east of Sonoita that drops you into the heart of the herd. Decoys have worked here; archers find stalking the open grassland hard and are pointed toward the more broken country instead.
