Unit 2C (Concho and Lyman Lake grasslands)

Arizona Hunting Guide — Pronghorn

GMU 2C is the grassland country west and south of St. Johns toward Concho, Vernon and Lyman Lake, and almost the entire unit is considered pronghorn habitat. The population has been stable over the past two years, and 2C has better access than either 2A or 2B — a strip of mostly State Trust land runs along its southern border with checkerboard private, State Trust and BLM elsewhere. The southern half holds slightly higher density and takes most of the hunting pressure, so scouting elsewhere can buy you quieter ground. The complication is development: more land is being subdivided through the southwest and west of the unit, which means scattered houses in open country where the quarter-mile rule applies.
